Until your dog is more comfortable with riding, you may be able to help prevent motion sickness in your dog by taking your time while driving and making little adjustments to how you travel with your dog.

However, the visit to the vet’s office should be positive and end on a positive not. Praising your dog will lend encouragement when he sits or stands for an examination. If you want to breed your basset hound, you probably will have better luck if you oversee the breeding yourself. Basset hounds have been breeding for centuries without human intervention; however, when an owner wants to breed their female basset, they might find the process a bit difficult. The estrus cycle for a female basset will vary. The best time to breed your female is when she is at just the right point in her cycle.

Basset hounds are a comical breed. They are just plain funny to look at. They make you smile. How can you not love a basset? One thing about bassets that you will have to get used to is their smell or fragrance, whichever word fits your idea of basset hounds best. My daughter’s basset, Rosie, has a musky fragrance to her. It’s not a bad smell. I like to give her lots of hugs and her odor isn’t overpowering. However, you can definitely tell a dog lives in the house.
